Putting the fun into fundraising in 2019

Supporting charities through collections, competitions and fun events is something we all enjoy at AB – putting smiles on our faces and raising valuable funds for good causes in the process.

Our fundraising efforts provided some of our most memorable moments of 2018 and we’re looking forward to giving something back once more in 2019.

Among the highlights last year was the sixth edition of the Great AB Bake Off, with 15 very competitive participants and even more willing taste testers taking part. Our bakers were split into three groups – biscuits, bread and cakes – with two winners from each group making it through to the final.

On the day of the final, Emma PM controversially failed to bake and Dav Sehmi was struck down by a gnarly virus. But among the remaining contestants Katie Smith emerged a clear winner, courtesy of a divine Mary Berry-inspired raspberry and chocolate roulade, which earned her the all-important ‘Hollywood’ handshake from Mario Theodorou.

We also hosted a coffee morning – from fruit to doughnuts, we had it all. In total, we were delighted to raise more than £100 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Most recently, in the lead up to Christmas, we collected tinned and dried food from colleagues and delivered them to a local homeless shelter, which is open on Sunday nights at Bermondsey Central Hall Methodist Church.

We’re looking forward to organising more fun fundraising events in 2019 and will be focusing our efforts on one local charity, to be announced shortly. Watch this space!
