Account Manager

AB has an exciting new opportunity for a dynamic, results-driven account manager to join our Content Team. Do you have the superpowers we’re looking for?

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced communications professional to join a dynamic, award-winning communications agency and play a key role in its future.

You will be central to winning, retaining and growing our client relationships.

We require a capable, team-oriented account manager with entrepreneurial flair. You must be passionate about the power of great communications and have the experience, passion and technical know-how to oversee a diverse range of projects.

This is both a strategic and hands-on role. You must have the basics – exceptional written and verbal skills. You will have proven experience of bringing great stories to life across a range of media.

As account manager, you will be a key contact for clients, adept at translating their strategy and priorities into tangible communications outcomes. You will be able to take – and challenge – client briefs and liaise with your colleagues across AB to bring ideas to life.

You will have approximately five years’ experience in communications, ideally working in both the agency and corporate environment. You will have managed business-as-usual channels – face-to-face, digital and printed – change and transformation projects, campaigns and engagement projects. You will have led research and measurement projects.

First class interpersonal skills are essential. You will be able to influence and build trust at senior levels, plus have the confidence to challenge conventional thinking and help AB exploit new opportunities.

Skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years strategic communications experience in a demanding environment managing complex, multi-media projects
  • First rate written and verbal skills; proven ability to craft great content
  • A strong track record in client management – you must be able to demonstrate how you have managed senior stakeholders and developed accounts
  • Strong commercial and business acumen, with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Ability to learn quickly and think strategically
  • Strong influencing skills and proven experience in gaining consensus across a multi-disciplined team
  • Microsoft skills essential, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

The package

Salary of £40,000 plus depending on experience

Annual bonus, subject to business performance

Editor

We require an experienced editor with exceptional writing skills and an uncommon eye for detail.

Your main responsibility will be editing several print and digital publications of different frequencies and for different clients.

This is a busy and varied role within a hard-working and committed editorial team.

  • You should be able to grasp complicated business ideas and know how to make them both simple and engaging
  • You’ll have a genuine passion for storytelling, plus experience of commissioning content for a range of channels and platforms, including video
  • You’ll know how to get the best out of reporters, designers and film-makers – and how to work closely with the wider creative team to produce stunning pages on a tight budget
  • You will know how to implement a content strategy and be able to help shape and refine it with colleagues
  • Some experience of measuring the effectiveness of communication channels would be an advantage.

The right candidate will have at least five years’ editorial experience, ideally editing several titles. You will be able to demonstrate first rate interviewing, reporting, subbing and proofreading skills. It is likely you have worked in internal communications and have a good understanding of the challenges of this specialist area. You should be able to speak with confidence and experience about the value and benefit of good internal communication, have a good understanding of business.

You may have a proven background in print journalism, but also a keen interest in other forms of communication, including video, mobile applications and social media.

The package

Basic salary: £30,000 plus depending on experience

Annual bonus, subject to business performance

AB is a team of around 30 consultants, editors and designers creating content to engage, inform and inspire both internal and external audiences. Established in 1964, we were the UK’s first agency dedicated to improving employee communications.

Today we develop social networks, build websites and apps, and create award-winning print magazines. Our blue-chip clients include Royal Mail, KPMG, Network Rail, Hitachi, the Post Office and Transport for London.
