Class acts

AB Thinks

More than 55 years ago AB was set up as the first UK internal comms agency. Along the way we’ve picked up a few awards. This year we are thrilled to be recognised, not only for our skills but also for our innovation.

Each year the Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC) Awards celebrate the work of those in IC. The recognition is both flattering and functional – it’s great to celebrate our work with clients but also useful to benchmark ourselves, so we don’t rest on our laurels.

This year, again, we were the most awarded IC agency for IoIC Awards of Excellence. We’ve won 14 awards – from writing and storytelling to illustration and design. And we collected glassware in five categories as Best in Class.

It’s reassuring to know, even as the most established IC agency, we are still leading the way with strong creative and editorial skills but also with our work on digital channels.

We won two Best in Class awards for our work with KPMG on its newly launched digital channel KPMG Life. The quarterly magazine features honest stories that cover personal and public challenges, from issues around social mobility to those that directly address the public’s view of the firm and wider accountancy industry. KPMG Life scooped Best Feature Channel and Best Digital Writing.

We also earned two Best in Class awards for our work with Transport for London on otm magazine: Best Illustration for a London artwork using a paper cut-out model that brought a fresh take on a well-worn theme, and Best Writing for a selection of personal articles that were hard-hitting and impactful but, most importantly, engaging.

We are particularly proud that our MD Katie Macaulay was named as a Change Maker for The Internal Comms Podcast – one of the first UK podcasts dedicated to IC – in the Game Changer category. It’s an exciting time for IC and to be acknowledged as at the forefront of that change, is high praise indeed.

But it’s not all about us; it’s about teamwork and working with clients who are bold enough to venture outside their comfort zones. We don’t like to stand still, and we know our clients don’t either. Here’s the full list of our Awards of Excellence:
